Beauty Review: Makeup Junkie Loves Bio-Oil!

I am a realist. I have worked in cosmetics and seen products come and go. Some work, most....Don't.

I have seen advertisements go up, and money be spent on displays and booklets and commericals go on and on about the "New and Improved" this and that.

But then....There was Bio-oil. I bought it in line at Wal-Mart for 11 dollars a month ago, and it's been sitting on my make-up counter for weeks, untouched.

'What am I going to do with a tub of oil?' I would think to myself, as I felt guilty about purchasing it in the first place. And then my moisturizer ran out last week. I was sad. My old moisturizer was expensive, but it was good. Nothing special, but good.

The next morning, I was dehydrated after my shower. My skin was thirsty. I was stuck. And then...I decided to give my little bottle a chance. I used Bio-oil as my moisturizer. I am in love.
My old pimple scars have faded. I had a pimple I attempted to pop (and failed) and I had cut myself. I don't even see a scar today. It has healed. It is gone. My eyes are light and fresh, I don't even wear concealer anymore and I wear make-up on my eyes every day.

And it's an oil!

As I touch my baby-butt smooth skin, I am not oily. I am supple. And at this rate, I'll look like this forever - wrinkle and aged free. Hopefully!?

Here is an active ingredient list:

Vitamin A: Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate on the label) helps improve the skin’s elasticity, texture and tone.

Vitamin E: The most widely used antioxidant in skincare products today, Vitamin E increases the moisture content of the epidermis, making the skin softer, smoother and more supple. Vitamin E also assists in the proliferation and maintenance of healthy skin.

Calendula oil: Calendula Officinalis, more commonly referred to as marigold, has been used for centuries as a natural antioxidant and has the ability to clarify and condition the skin, while providing soothing and calming benefits for sensitive skin types.

Lavender oil: Lavender oil is well known for its skin conditioning properties, and is also effective in calming and soothing the skin.

Rosemary oil: Rosemary oil helps to invigorate and condition the skin, and has calming and soothing properties.

Chamomile oil: Chamomile has a calming and soothing effect and is particularly beneficial for sensitive skin. It also helps to condition and clarify the skin, assisting to maintain its natural health.

PurCellin Oil™: PurCellin Oil™ acts as a delivery system for Bio-Oil’s other ingredients, dramatically improving its application and spreadability, and allowing for targeted absorption into the skin.

To apply:

Bio-Oil should be applied twice daily to the affected area. If used as part of a daily skincare regime, Bio-Oil should be applied before regular moisturizer as moisturizers can leave residues which block Bio-Oil’s absorption. However, Bio-Oil has sufficient moisturizing properties so as to render an additional moisturizer unnecessary. Bio-Oil does not contain sunscreen factor, so sunscreen should be applied once Bio-Oil has been fully absorbed.

Purchase Bio-Oil at your local Wal-Mart today for $11.97 (CAD)!

Have you tried Bio-Oil? Love it? Hate it?

I've seen Bio-Oil quite a bit and have seen a lot of people purchase it but after reading your review, I decided to give Bio-Oil a try. Yesterday was my first day using it and I thought it was okay, but I was wondering how long it was before you started noticing your scars were fading. It says to use it a minimum of 3 months and I was wondering if it takes this long for it to work. Thanks for the great review!

I started to notice improvements with my skin in general after just a couple of days. I used it on my cold sore (eww!) but it's healing quite quickly, which I'm happy about! The circles from my eyes disappeared within 2 days, and as for scarring, because the skin is a slow moving process, I say that if you don't see anything within the month, depending on the type of scar you have, you might have to go and get a stronger cosmetic procedure done. Best to treat skin in the nighttime - that's when it does majority of its "healing process"..Most people don't realize that when trying to tackle skin issues!

Bio-Oil isn't going to solve everything, unfortunetly, but with certain marks and cuts, you're sure to heal faster and better than before.

*Note* Bio-Oil is now on sale at Walmart! Down to $10!

No problem! I'm happy to help!

Recently upon my trip to Toronto, my sister Laura, told me about this article and that I should try Bio-Oil. I bought the larger $20 bottle (since I live in Orlando, I'm afraid it will run out!). Joy knows, that I have very dry, eczema cursed skin, that has good days and bad days. I've been using the Bio-oil now for about four days now... I still have yet to see improvement. (My lack of sleep may be contributing to the poor health of my skin though). I'll keep you updated.
