Makeup Moment: M.A.C. So Chaud By The Seine...

Taking a wee break from the Fall beauty trends today. It's been a crazy September. Back-to-school, TIFF, shoots, and weddings oh my! I'm not complaining, but lately my mind has been drifting and dreaming of far away places like my trip to Paris back in April. I never did tell you how M.A.C. So Chaud lipstick and I fell in love in Paris...

If I want to glam it up a bit but don't have a lot of time, doing a bright bold lip is my go-to. My time was much better spent sipping the famous Angelina's hot cocoa in the Tuileries. Much thanks to my bold lippies and saving me time!

I wanted a orange-red matte lipstick and after much "serious" research, I decided M.A.C. So Chaud was the winner. It's matte without being too drying like their matte lipsticks of the past and gives me the richest pop of colour a gal could ask for. I found myself reaching for this lipstick a lot. We spent time by the Seine watching the boats go by, buying posters and post cards from street vendors, doing goofy poses in front of the Louvre with the Eiffel Tower always in the background. Even after noshing on many buttery, flaky croissants So Chaud still stayed on with barely any touch-ups needed.

This lipstick will forever have a special place in my beauty stash. After all, we did share Paris together...

Makeup Moment: NARS Schiap Lipstick

I caved. The wonderful people at Murale.ca sent me a gift card to test drive their new online shopping site (amazing brands, easy to navigate and super fast shipping). NARS Schiap is a cult classic and has been on my lust list for a long time. I just couldn't justify another bright pink lipstick (my beauty weakness). While my husband planned our itinerary for Paris back in April, I planned my beauty product list. I convinced myself that I needed a bright fuchsia lipstick and it had to be matte.

When I had looked for style inspirations, I noticed Parisian women wore their lipsticks like a stain; very little gloss or shine. They have that effortless-chic look down pat! I didn't want to spend too much time doing my makeup, so I figured natural makeup with a bright lippie would work perfectly. I have absolutely no regrets about buying Schiap. We just go together you know?

The picture above is from a magical park tucked away in the outskirts of Paris. There was an actual waterfall that flowed into this beautiful, hidden cave. In the background is a charming, old French man who I swear tried to pick-pocket us! Well, if he did I'm sure he was disappointed to only find old subway tickets!

Fun fact: NARS Schiap was inspired by Italian fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli who is Coco Chanel's greatest rival! Sorry, Madame Chanel for taking Schiap to your beloved city but she was too pretty not to!

Have you fallen prey to NARS Schiap?

Product was sent for editorial consideration and I truly love it.

Au Revoir Toronto! Bonjour Paris!

Jet-setting to Paris tonight to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary! This has been a dream of mine and I finally get to la vie en Paris!

If you notice there are no new updates on Makeup Junkie for a couple of weeks it's because I'll probably be spending my time gorging on stinky cheese, baguettes, croissants and Laduree macarons! I'm going to try and post a few quick features on Parisian beauty and what I'm wearing but forgive me if I don't get around to it! I will for sure update you on Parisian beauty and fashion when I get back! But my inspiration is definitely effortless and all about lips!

Au revoir for now!
