Beauty Review: I Heart Nars' Velvet Matte Lip Pencil and Duo Cream Eyeshadow!

A few posts back I had said that I would be posting some reviews from different brands. So many new products and so little time! Here's the first of my beauty review list.

Anyone that has read my site knows that I'm a HUGE fan of Nars products. Why you ask when there's so many other cosmetic lines that are just as good and less expensive? I love how Nars is always on the cutting edge of beauty. Unlike a lot of other brands, Nars is a trend setter and the quality of the products are definitely worth the price. Plus, the line was created by make-up artist and photographer, Francoise Nars. As a make-up artist, he has created a line that is up to industry standards and is also customer friendly. Not to mention, the colours come in a beautiful range of soft and bold colours, the textures are rich, the packaging is oh-so-chic, and the names are flirty and playful (hello "Orgasm"??).

My latest purchase from the line is the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Calliope, a coral pink. I've been wanting something more on the matte side that was also easy to apply. It goes on velvety smooth and doesn't dry out your lips. It acts as both lip liner and lipstick so it's great for people on the go. It has great staying power as well. There is a variety of colours to choose from but I wanted something nice for spring/summer. During the summer I love looking glowy and bronzy and to avoid looking too shimmery or shiny I think a velvety matte lip is the perfect compliment. I love the shade because it's a nice neutral coral that can be toned down to be paired with smoky bronze eyes or the colour can be enhanced with a juicy orange gloss laid over top.

My other purchase from the line that I had been wanting to get (the Sephora closest to me just got it in stock!) is the Duo Cream Eyeshadow in Thebes, a sheer platinum shimmer and sheer gold shimmer. It's the perfect combo for the spring trends of silver and golds. It illuminates the eyes with just the perfect amount of colour. It claims to be long-lasting so I'll have to put it to the test once it gets warmer outside. The colour stays true all day but I still get little crease lines. However, I still love the portability and easy swipe application. It's also a perfect highlighter for brow bone and cheekbone. You can wear alone for a soft finish or under a powder shadow for a more intense effect.

There are still a few products from Nars that I've been dieing to buy! I'm trying to pace myself though. Tell me what your favourite Nars products are. Happy shopping!

I love NARS, too. My favorite (lately) is cream blush in Penny Lane--the color is barely there, the formula is light but luxurious (what do they put in there to make it so creamy?!), and it's THE perfect cheek color to pair with a smokey/defined eye.
